Kindergarten – 6th Grade

Bible – Positive Action for Christ (Kindergarten – 4th Grade): A strong emphasis is placed on character development. Another goal of the curriculum is establishing students in the Word of God so they can find answers for themselves. Bible memory is also stressed.

Bible – Lifeway Christian School Resources (5th and 6th Grades): The Quest series teaches theimportance of developing Bible-based wisdom and applying God’s Word to a student’s life. The seriesuses current events, as well as illustrations from the past, to focus on life experiences. It encourages students to extend themselves beyond merely surviving to thriving in the midst of everyday challenges and overwhelming experiences.

Language Arts – Houghton Mifflin Harcourt – Journeys: Journeys emphasizes explicit, systematic instruction in the areas of reading, fluency, writing, speaking and listening, and language. The program provides ample practice and application of these skills, using a variety of meaningful resources and activities suited to different types of learners to reinforce instruction and learning. High-quality literature, informational texts, and instructional content offer students a wealth of opportunities to learn and master common core standards. Vocabulary instruction helps students through key steps in acquiring, practicing and applying a rich vocabulary, thereby creating superior readers and writers.

Mathematics – Scott Foresman/Addison Wesley (3rd – 6th Grade): This challenging math series encourages students to use critical thinking.  Through the use of manipulatives, number sense, money and game modules students learn hands-on approaches to using math.

Science – Christian Schools International (K-2nd Grade) and BJU Press (3rd – 6th Grade): This science curriculum used in both the primary and intermediate grades is an  innovative study of life, earth, and physical science written from a clear Christian perspective.  Students will be empowered to discover the infinite complexity and amazing orderliness of God’s world; learn about themselves as a special part of God’s creation; and recognize themselves as caretakers of God’s creation.

Social Studies – A Beka Book: This series brings to life America’s famous people, scientific advances, major events, travel, communication and thinking; and the principles that made America great.  The themes of patriotism and God’s guidance in our country’s founding are interwoven throughout each text.

Maps, Globes, Graphs – Steck-Vaughn: The students learn geography and map reading skills as they color, complete and create maps.
